Why submit your plasmids to our repository?
Sharing plasmids with the DF/HCC DNA Resource Core benefits you by alleviating the burden of storage, maintenance and distribution, and benefits the general research community by making plasmids available from a central source.
We encourage submission of plasmids from researchers at any of the DF/HCC parent institutions and from the research community at large. Small and large collections are equally welcome.
Submitting plasmids generally involves the following three steps:
1) Gaining permission from your institution to include the plasmids in the repository for distribution under specific terms (the Depositor Agreement). NOTE that this permission has already been granted by all seven DF/HCC institutions as well as several other research institutes listed here.
2) Providing us with information about the plasmids, such as maps or sequence files, growth conditions, relevant authors and publications, etc. so we are set up to handle the plasmids when they arrive. We have templates for submission of information that allow us to easily import your data into our database.
3) Sumbit your samples. Please DO NOT submit samples until we confirm that i) your data is entered into our computers and ii) we are ready to receive your samples.
Submission Guidelines
We have standardized our submission process. This information is outlined in the following five files.
Please read through each of these documents before you start.
Last Updated: May 16, 2008
- Submission Checklist. This document will guide you through the submission process. The items in this checklist highlight a variety of problems we have frequently encountered.
- clone_files_table details. This document outlines the information we need regarding your plasmids. It also describes in detail the data format that is compatible with the parsing software that transfers this information into our sequencing and database programs. If there are elements here that do not work for you, please contact me for further discussion.
- Definitions for annotating CDS sequences. This document describes how to identify the NTSeq, relevant CDS, and linker sequences to input into the data tables. This document addresses the questions we have encountered from various sites about how to annotate their sequences.
- Submission Table. This is an Excel spreadsheet containing the columns listed in the “clone_file_table details.” This can serve as a template for you data submission, and you can delete the columns that do not apply to you.
- Vector Template. This is an Excel spreadsheet containing columns to help you provide us with information about your vectors.
